Day 5- #90daysofblogging

Guess what I did?  I made some charms a few weeks ago.  Something I never do.. because well.. I don't know how to make jewelry or dangles.. ::chuckles::  I was trying to do a crash course that week. You see I have been really thinking about all the projects I *intend* to create and don't.  I buy all this crap and Don't even make one! I have lots of small bottles of metal charms and beads I have collected over the last few years with intent of making dangles. Dangles to add on my book spines and tags and faux mekodori.  I used shrink wrap.  Not to pleased with the colors and instead of the oven as I have in the past, I used my #heatgun.  So I trashed the charms, no not literally.. just the idea of using them as a design team post.  Looking for suggestions to get better colors.. lighter colors..   I think my next try will be alcohol inks or paints..

The pictures aren't any any order.  What I did was I took my Sin  City Stamps  and stamps some images on the shrink wrap.  then colored them with sharpies and color pencils (which didn't go  well for me).  Then I cut them then in random pieces and places a hole in each with a punch.  Used a chop stick in the whole to hold them down, so I could hit them with the #heatgun.  I learned from YT videos and pinterest that if it wasn't flat by the time it was done shrinking.. try to hit it with a domino.  In many cases.  I got them pretty durn flat.  No WOW factor.. but ok..  Will try again.

That's it for me today!

Thank you for coming by.  I appreciate YOU and YOUR TIME!!

Day 4- #90daysofblogging

Hey folks...

Now this is a conversation, or better yet.. shared thought.. I have had with myself.. ONLY after I read or listen to someone go deep about their process and why they produce.  I constantly hear.. that there is some deep philosophical soul searching reason as to why people art.  Artist are emotional and genuinely create according to how they feel.  We use colors that correlate with those emotions.  I wish I had someone to sit and analyze my color palette. Enlighten me as to why I create the things I do.  The ONLY time my art has a story, is when I do, what I call, my water color Brook series.  They are images of my daughter and how I see her.  I stare her her daily.. sometimes it seems like for hours at a time.  When I am not staring at her.  I am listening to her.  I don't make a lot of water color cards, nor do I make my Brook my subject in all my art.  ::shrugs::  I like to work in neons and anything bright which might make one think I have lots of energy and that I reflect the color palette I use.  I don't.  The brightest things I wear are purple gem stones usually embedded by onyx or marcasites or the occasional moonstone in the form of a ring or earrings.  I'm almost always in blue, gray or black. Sometimes I wonder if I am color blind sub- consciously. ::chuckles::

It makes me feel like maybe I am not where I am suppose to be in my art.  I don't anticipate my art to suddenly have some disclosed story or phenomenon as to why I design/create as I do.  I was listening to the woman tonight from Dirty Foot Prints Studio's Connie Solera. It was the first time I heard someone say what I feel when I create.  I put colors on a page because the energy draws me to do so.  I smiled because she did this hand hovering thing over her journal page.. That's how I create.

On a happier note.. my birthday is on one month!  I decided I want a purple sweet potato cake!  Stop scrunching your noses!!  We are gonna get the potatoes and try cupcakes first.. :)  That way if it doesn't work I can request my carrot cake or sweet potato cupcakes!!  Also thinking bout a giveaway to build my FB Art page up.. hmmm..  I don't know!!

As always I bid you peace love and SOULLLLLL!!  Thank you for coming by I appreciate YOU and your time!!

Feel like seeing what's going on with those other ladies??? :)

Day 3- #90daysofblogging

Greetings..

Been up most the night, moreso because I didn't have PC access during the day.  I feel like I am catching up!  Will probably run a few errands tomorrow.  Make some paper, literally! Do some laundry if I am lucky and finish a few projects.  Would love to do some sort of altered key or hat pins.  I don't use that stuff, but I think it's pretty.  Might be nice to include in a pocket letter too.  I feel like I need to make like 10-20 of those and send them out, but I won't say to who.. in case I never get around to doing them :: laughs::  Pocket letters require me to think too much and I just don't wanna think at all! ::laughs again::   I am altering a toy guitar and frankly.. It's not coming out like I pictured it!  I am still tweaking it though.  I feel like I can do more.  Make it look, like I want it to.. but my timing is ALL OFF!!  (shoulda started this 6 months ago)

Anywho today I want to show you some watercolor cards that I have worked on previously.. Just decided to add some pen doodles/details.  The watercolors I prefer at this present time are Sakura Koi Watercolor Sketch Travel Pan Set with 24 paints .  I was first introduced to these paints by the fabulous Joanne Sharpe.  Joanne uses a color palette that hugs my heart and makes my eyes twinkle.  The only thing that would make me switch to another set of watercolors is if they offered neon colors. ::feeling perky at the thought::  (#hoHO.. #Paula.. ::giggles::)  Koi will ALWAYS be my #1 goto for watercolors.  They are inexpensive and every place I would go to buy them from.. take coupons! (HA!)  I constantly try different types of watercolors, but I will tell you.. I will most definitely compare them to my Kois.  I am not a water colorist.  I am still learning and probably will be learning for a long time! :: laughs::

Here are the cards I mentioned..

The pen I used in the pictures was a Unibal Signo UM-153 Bold.  No longer made in the US, but available for purchase on ebay, www.jetpens.com and few other retail stores.
I do plan to check out Kuretake and White Knights  Water Colours.

The ONLY pencils I want are Caran d' Ache (sp) to try.

As always thank you for your time....

Day 2- #90daysofblogging

Happy Saturday to ya!

Wasn't sure what I wanted to write about today.. I have a lot of things/projects on my mind over the next week.  I feel like I must get a free week once a month and the other weeks are creative chaos.. :)
That might sound like a complaint, but it is so far from it. The only thing that could put icing on it.. would be getting paid for it.. :)  Any who.. as I write.. I am playing with a few supplies I got from the Dollar Tree!  yes.. you heard me!  The Dollar Tree! Wanna sneak peak ?

This is a guitar I plan to alter (the dollar tree item).  It had super glossy paper on it so I tried to Deco Arts  Gesso, but it pealed too easily.  So I went over it with some Deco Art Americna Multisurface Satin in Cotton Ball and that seems to be working fine.. Now to use some Helmar's  Decoupage and craft paste on  my images and get some color down..

Another thing I have been working on is my loose face sketching. I am fine not being a portrait artist.  I personally think once you start doing portraits you put a level of perfectionalism (is that a word?)  on your work.  I don't want to do that! I don't need to worry about that.  I like painting whimsy faces and crazy colors.  Yes I would like my shadowing and such to be better.  Yes I would like my profiles, and head tilts to be less strenuous on me to create and on the finish pieces.  I will learn as it comes.. In the mean time I have a flipagram many of you have seen.. and some of you.. well have not.

We have two more bloggers to join our circle.

Day 1 of #90daysofblogging

Hey folks...  To day is MAY 1st!

I am trying hard to step up my blog game!  Yep ::insert vintage picture of woman with mighty fist here::  Trying to create more and post about it!  It's easy to create!  It's hard for me to document it and tell folks about it, when it isn't required. I have never considered myself a reader, let a lone a writer.

I welcome this challenge and I excited for my friends who have decided to take this journey with me, for whatever their reasons are :).  Will try to link their blogs below, in case anyone is reading this and decides to also check them out. :)

Now on to today's post.  I will try to talk about things I have done, products I have used and works in progress.  So keep a head's up!  You never know with me.

Tonight is the night before my Sin City Stamps posts is due. I am playing around with my stencils I got in my design team package and I like them a lot.  A reason why is they are thinly made, but not so fragile, they aren't flexible.  They are not super expensive and I appreciate how easily the slide between the pages of journals or on my gelli plate and made very detailed markings with every use.

I used my one of my stencils with some Faber Castell Glass Bead Glitter Gel (that I won from attending a ustream class)!!  I LOVE FABER CASTELL PRODUCTS!!! Now anyone who knows me, knows I love Bling and GLITTER, even more than I love shimmer. It's a HELL to clean up, but not in this product.  I took my DecoArt Media Acrylic Mister in Purple and colored the glitter beads.  Used it with my spatula through a stencil on my up and coming journal page.  The gel although white, dries clear or whatever color you changed it to. with large specks of glitter that don't come off!!  How freaking cool is that!?!  BTW, I love my DecoArt Media Misters in EVERY COLOR and while I am not a super clean crafter, I have not been prevented from using my misters due to clogged nozzles.  They clean with a few dips in water.  Easy Peasy!!

I had things to do (blog posts to write and I wanted to let my page naturally dry) so I slipped the stencil in a zip lock with DecoArt Media Brush and Stencil Cleaner which is my FAVE!!  That stuff is the BIZNESS!!  It allows me want to take care of my brushes and mister/spray nozzles and stencils better and almost effortlessly.  You can use it straight or a little diluted and you will know the difference every time.

Ok.. I have blogged wayyy longer then I intended.. and that's ok.. Just don't expect it every time! ::big chuckle:: Thank you for following me and have a wonderful weekend!!!
