ColourArte and Art Journal Color- Challenge

and the November Challenge over at **ART*JOURNAL*JOURNEY*

Had fun wetting my pots of Twinkling H2Os.  Let the water sit for a few moments and applied with a waterbrush, in case i wanted or need to keep the color wet and mobile. The birds are from BloomGirls from Prima.. by Jaylynscraps. I love those birds.. I love more that a create new color for birds that might not exist!

I took a heart shaped canvas board and added gesso by decoart.  Then I took the radiance gels and created a sky,  love how it is a dimensional paint and I was able to add texture with it..

Day 90- #90daysofblogging (DecoArt)

Love how this page came out.. adding my quote was a final decision.  I used white sharpie that was water-based then i outlined the lettering for pop.  I really love this page, this face.. these colors.

I took some Deco Art Acrylics in various colors and put some color on the page. Then I  took  a pencil and did a lose face.

Then I took the Media line titanium white and muted some of the bright colors of the face.  Usuaully the white is used to accent/highlight areas.  I just like the look.  I had no real reason to do it.. just responding to my intuition.

Then I took my stabilo all pencil in blue and traced the face and a few details.  Took a wet brush and activated the pencil to give that painterly look.

Then I layered my acrylics with some Caran D'Ache Neocolor2s, which are water soluble crayons.

Adding even more here in complementary colors..

Activating and moving the color with a little bit of matte medium.  Love how that stops the color from moving as much, once it's dry.

I also love how the colors are not opaque and that the colors peak through the layers.

Added more colors to the face and details and a few highlights.

If you have noticed I finally finished publishing my 90 days of blogging.  I got to the last 5-7 days and just totally found myself, not typing..or wanting to type.  Anyway, it's finally done!  Thank you for coming along on this ride with me!!

Day 89- #90daysofblogging

This was my last post as a Guest Designer for Gina's Designs Lasercuts.  It has has been super swell to be there each Wednesday In the month of July!  If you haven't noticed my style by now, I love color and I loooove sparkle.  You can never have too much of either when you are playing with Fairies!  Check out my page..

I love anything and everything about fairies, then again I am biased because of the color and sparkle/glitter/shimmer factor.  I am not colorful person in clothing, nor am I adorned with sparkley accessories, but my heart is.  My friend Sandee Setliff, an awesome artist, and she reminded me to..  DREAM BIG, Little fairies grant BIG WISHES!  I believe there is a little bit of fairy sprinkling kindness/fairy dust everywhere daily in many of us.

Anywho, back to my project.  I covered all my fabulous chippies from Gina's Store with gesso.  You don't have to, but I do, especially when I know I am going to use Design Memory Craft's gelatos.  It allows me to literally apply color and rub with my finger,

I love Gina's Store, I am very excited over the projects I have been able to produce over the last few weeks.  Her chippies have allowed me to create things I would not normally even attempt on my own.  With an awesome selection of chipboard pieces and her MORE than affordable prices. I will always come back and refer her to friends and fellow crafters alike.  If you get a chance to check out her site, I am more than sure, you will find something that tickles your fancy personally or it would make a spectacular gift.  Again, it has been uberly awesome to be a guest designer for her and her company.  Please subscribe to her design team's YouTube Channel , they are a talented bunch and don't forget to LIKE her Facbook page by clicking here and join her Facebook group for even more inspiration by clicking here.

Thanks for all of your warm support!

Day 88- #90daysandblogging RUBBERMOON

I love these new stamps I got from Rubber Moon's monthly mail subscription.  They are super cute and they make me smile.  This was my first stamp from September's mail.  These are ATCs I made and traded with my partner Dotti in the facebook group.

To create the cards I started with a 6x8 sheet of 400 series Strathesmore Mixed Media paper. I gessoed the page then added molding paste by Deco Art through  a stencil.  After everything was all dry, I used my Caran D' Ache Neocolors II and added color. added extra samping with my mini numbers stamps from Sin City Stamps.  All stamped iamges were created with archival ink pad.
I wrote out my quotes I found on pinterest, which has a plethora of information just waiting for you to pin,  Remember PINning is winning! :)

I wrote the quotes with a Unibal pen.. just plain waterproof one you can use for drawing and check writing. Adhered it down with a  bit of Helmar Craft and Hobby PVA glue I keep in a fineliner applicator.

Day 87- #90daysofblogging (TWINKLING H2O)

Sending this ATC off to Grumbacher for their swap challenge .
and

Hey just love spritzing my Twinkling H2O with water and laying down colors on this bristol atc.
Leaves have always been hard for me, but using the twinks and then going over them with a unibal waterproof pen and hinting a bit of line seems to work.  What do you think?

The quote says Mother Nature has the BEST box of crayons, but Colour Arte ain't far behind!!

  Here are my ATC Creations..

I had such a ball creating these ATCs.  I try to put a little bit of me in each one I do. I love bright colors, texture and quotes.  I hope you enjoy them.  I also will be giving my four ATCs away to those who leave a comment below. My winners will be posted on 18th of September, 2015.

Okie doke, let us begin!

The supplies I used to create my ATCs are:

Sin City Stamps- Just Us Girls by Terri Sproul
Sin City Stamps- Peeking Owl by Michelle Cummings
Sin City Stamps- Flourish by Michelle Cummings
Artistcellar- Chakra Series Pocket Stencils
Dylusions Paints
Deco Art- White Gesso
Faber Castel- Glass Bead Glitter
Cardboard (cut to ATC size)
Book paper
Strathesmore Mixed Media Paper 400 series
Derwent Inktense Pencils
Pentel Waterbrush
Deco Art- Acrylic paint
Archival Ink Pad
Helmar- 450 Quick Dry Adhesive
Helmar- Craft and Hobby PVA Glue
Brushes
Blingy goodness
Quotes on paper
Scissors
pen

I took my card that was cut to size and covered it with book paper, then gesso.

I swished the 3 colors of paint around with a dry brush on each card.  I originally show only three, I later decided to do a fourth card.  ATCs are so addictive!!

I then took a couple of stencils and pounces some acrylic lightly on each them.

Don't forget to sometimes stencils off the side of the card.

Then I mixed some dylusions paint with glass bead glitter gel. It does not sparkle nearly as much as when you add gelatos (which are uber transparent).  I like it though!  Don't forget to allow drying time!

I took my inktense pencils and colored some images to layer on top!  I always scribble color on the side and apply with a waterbrush, thats the best way to avoid lines in my coloring.

Adhered the images with my  450 adhesive and added blingy goodness!

Flipped over to the backs of the cards and painted them all white so the artist stamp and its info would be legible.  Let Dry!

Stamped with archival ink and filled out the information.

Added quotes I typed out and cut to place on ATCs. Adhered them with a little PVA Craft glue. Then I framed the wording with a black pen.  Here are a few close ups

Stand up for what's right even if you stand alone

She's bright like glitter and bubbly like champagne.

Don't let anyone EVER dull your Sparkle

Seek respect not attention, it lasts longer.

Day 86- #90daysandblogging

I love this book.  It just costs more then I am willing to pay.  I have yet to make any mosiac tiles or play with clay to create my own, so I guess that's one reason I haven't rushed to get this book.  I have gotten it from the library at least 3 times and kept over 3 weeks at a time.  Love the processes it takes you through using tiles and creating your own.  Love that they also tell you how to decorate and use them in projects.  The book is very thorough, I appreciate that.  Has plenty of step by step pictures and awesome explanations.  Anywho.. totally worth it if you have the money to spend.

Day 85- #90daysofblogging

I was very anxious to get this book.  As I read it I knew i would finally be able to make some earrings that would be light enough for my mother and I to wear that I created with my art.  I know I should have been able to figure this out on my own, but I love the inspiration I received as I read this book.  I believe I can sew.. lol.. even if it's hand sewing.  This book had a lot of very very cool projects that anyone could replicate in their own style.  Indeed a book i want to own for reference purposes.

Day 84- #90daysofblogging

For my third guest spot for the month of July with Gina's Designs  I created a shrine!  I know Frida Kahlo's birthday was earlier this month, but in my family we celebrate birthdays the whole month!  I was very, very excited to play with my first ATC shrine. Here is a picture of the finished project.
If you would like to see the post associated with this project, CLICK HERE.  :)

Lets talk about the Deco Art Items I used in this project!

Besides using Deco Art Media Fluid Acrylics to paint my shrine. In the following colors:
  • Titan Buff
  • Primary Yellow
  • Blue Green Light
  • Quinacridone Red
  • Primary Cyan
I also used from the Americana Craft paints- Festive Green

After everything was painted, I proceeded to add the Deco Art Media Crackle Glaze, which dries clear. I then applied some DA Media Antiquing cream in Medium Gray.  After it dried.. I took a slightly dampened baby wipe and rubbed off the access cream. If you take off too much, you can always add more.  Best way to avoid it to limit the moisture in the cloth you use to rub off and rub  lightly.  Check out this awesome finish.

I have a few other areas I applied it to as well.. who would ever know this was hardboard.  It looks aged.. and I don't mean just a few hours either!!!  I can't wait to try this again!  I decided to make a Flipagram   I hope you can see parts of my creative process and enjoy the music. ::smiles::

Did I say how much I thoroughly enjoyed this?  The shrines are created  hardboard.  Not quite wood, but even more sturdier than chipboard,  You don't have to wonder about the mediums you apply to it, because it can just about withstand anything!!  I am totally impressed!  Now it's your turn to head over to Gina's Designs and Lasercuts and try something different and creative!!  Don't just stop there though, head over to Deco Art's Mixed Media Line to check out all the awesome products they have in store there.

Supplies Used.

Gina's Designs- ATC Shrine- Window 1

Other supplies used

Deco Art Media - Gesso, Fluid Acrylics, Crackle Paste (clear), Antiquing Cream
Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive
DMC Faber Castell Glass Bead Gel

Day 83- #90daysofblogging

Tiles Gone Wild.
I wish I had the space to create mosaic pieces.  I can't do this type of things with my daughter around.  I would wake up and find every mug I loved in pieces, cut up the soles of my feet trying to get to shoes and lord only knows what else.  Would like to try this technique with clay pieces and chipboard possibly.  Very informative for anyone wanting step by steps.  Gives awesome info about tools and why this tool over another one.  I appreciated reading that.  Not a book, I must have in my personal library, but full of good resources.

Day 82- #90daysofblogging

The Pulse of Mixed Media by Seth Apter.  To be honest this book is cool for people who want to know about other artist in bulk. You could honestly connect (if your willing) with some of the artist here and go on and decide to inquire more about their other projects.  Lots of cool quotes and opinions and outlooks on art and why we create.  I wanted to know more about how things were made that I saw in the book.  Fantastic pieces, little tidbits about how they feel when ____ happens.  For me I am the type of person that once I engage with an artist and decide I like their work or want to learn from their work, then and only then am I interested in some of the things discussed in this book.  It could be a nice book to gift someone who is a mixed media artist or one who just appreciates art, but I don't HAVE TO HAVE IT.  I love Seth Apter's work though, which is the reason I chose to check out the book.  Check it out.. might be something you can feel inspired by or an artist you are drawn too.

Day 81- #90daysofblogging

Went to the library today to begin picking up the books I wanted to check out.  I think I have about 3-4 more to pick up.  I have learned since I am on a budget, I am soooo not beyond going to the library to check out a book.  Just like I am not above purchasing a used book to save money on after I have carefully reviewed it from my library hauls. I only buy books that inspire me or act as a reference.  I am determined to be a educated consumer, not just in arts and craft supplies.  While it seems as though I hoard a lot of things and I do.  Know it doesn't cost me full price, well within last few years it hasn't, lol  This was an awesome selection of books.  At this moment I will be enjoying the slower days ahead, to read and enjoy them.  From there I will decide which ones, I JUST HAVE TO HAVE for my own personal library.
