DecoArt Neons.. Acrylic Paint Spray?

This weeks I had to try something different.  I had to try to make my own sprays!  I love bright colors and frankly, you cannot get any brighter than DecoArt's NEON acrylics.  The come in a Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Pink and Orange!  I love them all!  I had a few of those misters by Ranger.. so I tried to make a  spray of my own!  Check out my photos.. :)

Decided to try first with only the primary colors.. red.. blue.. and yellow..
I think where I messed up is using only 50% Alcohol.. I should have used something with a higher percentage... hmmm!!

\Here I just placed a small amount of paint in the bottoms of each bottle.. a really small amount!

Then I added the alcohol to each bottle.. remembering to leave room for the top and sprayer.. so the alcohol would not spill over the edges of the bottle.  After you make sure it is tight.. you shake , shake and shake!!  This is where I think if I had a stronger alcohol maybe the paint would have broken up a little better??  Either way.. it did ok!!

Hey some folks like drips.. some folks like controlled drippage!  My sprays didn't come out much like mist, but that's nothing changing the bottle wouldn't fix!!.. I was still pleased with the strength of the color and the quickness of the drying, which is why I picked alcohol in the first place!  Just make sure you are in a well ventilated room or outside when you do this.. :)  I didn't get a bunch of fumes.. but I feel like I should say that.  This is all I did with this page.. I am saving that for another post.. :-)

Thanks for looking!!!

Mixed Media Card #1 & #2

In 2014 I said I would FOCUS on doing the kind of art that made me happy. That now includes creating  mixed media cards!  What's a mixed media card you might wonder? Well a mixed media card is card consisting of  more then one artistic technique or medium compiled to create one piece of art. It gives an artist an opportunity to showcase an ability to display their eye for good color and maybe show a love for texture. :)

I love both cards..
Both cards had my Deco Arts Neon Acrylics paints applied after I did some underwriting to Greg aka PapaBear.. lol  I love my Neon colors.  Wish there were more!!  Love my Brick stencil by The Crafters Workshop.. Anyway, TFS

Who WEAR's the CROWN!!

Well.. It started like this.. my friend Sandee Setliff tagged me in a post, in regards to crowns made by Jeanette; who is a fellow Helmar DT member.  You can find her post here! After Sandee drafted us.. a bunch of us decided that we also wanted to make the crown!  Below is my process!

This is the first one.. the easiest one to do.. You just had to remove a  few triangular shaped slices from the roll.. Then I painted with my favorite shade of purple, Purple Pearl,  Dazzling Metallics from DECOART.   Then I decorated it with lavender bling mesh, lace, and a gross grain ribbon.  Final picture.. is at the end.. :D

The following pictures make up my other crown.. a slightly different one and a few extra strips..
Step 1) cut a ring from the roll about an inch thick.
Step2) take the remainder of the roll and cut into 1/2 inch strips or however thick you want them to be.

Step 3) Take one of the strips and line up about 5 of the strips perpendicular to the base strip.
Step 4) After you have spaced them, adhere them with your favorite adhesive.  Mines just happens to be HELMARs CRAFT/450 Once that is done, connect the base strip to close and form a loop.

Take the strips and curl them downward.. the adhere the tips on the inside of the 1 inch piece you cut at the beginning.  Then you will your second crown to paint and bling it up.. :)
