I had fun creating this. I took the original black and white image I had and fussy cut all the black out and leaving a thin border to outline my image. I went to an old art magazine called Art in America and took some other artist finished paintings and cut them up in strips and collaged them to a piece of water color paper that was 140lb, using some Deco Art Matte Medium. With an old plastic card I smoothed out my papers. Then I laid my Mona over the collaged pieces and adhered her with matte medium also. I cut off the overage, leaving a hint along the edges to frame my work. Then I added some color to her face with Design Memory Craft Gelatos and Big Brush Pitt Pens. I just love how the Pitt pens go over the matte medium wet.. They stay wet only for 5 seconds though, so move fast if you want to blend a little bit of that color with anything else.
I have a habit of holding on to baby wipes that are flooded with pretty colors that have NOT all blended all into each other. I fold them and let them dry and use them in background. I may use the one above to adhere my finished piece to a Cottonwood Artist board. Then off in the mail she goes to my swap partner. I hope she enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making her.
Looks fabulous Tamiko.. Awesome work on this..
